Do Bahamian students sit CSEC?

The national examinations in The Bahamas are the BJC and BGCSE, not CSEC. Some students sit CXC subjects privately or through particular schools, but our CSEC and CAPE material is optional here rather than the default.

How the system works here

The Bahamas runs its own national examinations rather than the CXC route used by most of the region: the Bahamas Junior Certificate (BJC) in junior high, and the Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) at the end of senior high.
